The physical fitness market has had enough with tough coronavirus lockdowns, to the extent that U.S. Physical fitness Union president and CEO Charles Cassara is now challenging Gov. Andrew Cuomo to release up New York health clubs.
In a FOX Organization special, Cassara told “The Claman Countdown” he began taking legal action after gyms were not consisted of in the state’s resuming strategy up until phase four.
Most fitness centers are resumed with stringent guidelines and constraints and some Manhattan facilities are still limited from operating indoors.
“Those gyms haven’t been open for nine months,” he stated. “No one can endure that.”
Cassara said the brand-new coronavirus relief plan is “no great” for the industry either, leaving him no option however to take legal action and press state authorities to make a modification.
“This cost is just trash,” he stated. “The PPP money goes to companies that are payroll heavy. Gyms, for a lot of parts, are not payroll heavy. We are payroll light and rent heavy. There is nothing here for us. There’s no other way for us to get any of that cash.”
“The preliminary didn’t help for us and the 2nd round is going to do even less,” he added.
In New York City State, coronavirus spread is not being connected back to public centers like gyms, beauty salons, and restaurants. But Cassara said Gov. Cuomo pinned fitness operations as being “leading spreaders” from the beginning.
“We’re not even in the 10 leading markets that spread out COVID,” he stated. “So, that did us damage –– vilifying us in the media and all that.”
Cassara likewise pointed out that exercise helps people stay healthy and “fight the comorbidities” that the infection tends to attack.
